Blippar Christmas Santa Experience

Leaders in the interactive augmented reality (AR) sphere, Blippar was looking to recode the cliché of a traditional Santa’s grotto by rewarding children’s curiosity with an AR treasure hunt. Propelling the brand into the public eye, we devised an enchanting experience, encouraging the public to engage with, and download the app.
Visitors were transported on a multisensory adventure, from the hubbub of Covent Garden to a whimsical, wintery rooftop scene.
Greeted by Santa, everyone had a mission; to save Christmas and help St. Nick seek out his mischievous reindeer who’d gone missing. By ‘Blipping’ what they could see and following the clues, monochrome drawings magically began to move, becoming animated, 3D, colourful characters before guests’ eyes – through the power of their screens.
With lifesize, augmented illustrations to make jaws drop, Christmas scents to tickle nostrils and carol singers striking the right note; every guest’s senses were piqued as they wandered in wonder – jumping straight into a children’s book and feeling it come alive all around them.
