History

“Innovation is creativity with a job to do.”
– John Emmerling

Timebased was established in 1996 by Richard Dodgson, a director of performance art who had the idea to devise live and highly creative theatrical events in non-theatrical spaces.

Since then, we’ve produced hundreds of unforgettable events across the UK, Europe and Asia.

We’ve closed Oxford Street for Selfridges, Emporio Armani and David Beckham. Worked with Condé Nast to create the coveted GQ Men of the Year Awards every year since its inception in 1998. Designed the Houses for Team USA and Usain Bolt’s Team Jamaica at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Marked the celebrity opening of the Saatchi Gallery with over 160 naked artists as part of a Spencer Tunick installation. Unveiled the new Vauxhall Corsa in front of Tower Bridge as it flew it down the River Thames suspended from a helicopter.

Our name comes from a focus on the only limitation we believe events have: time. Each event has a beginning. Each event has an end.

The space in between is where we’ll tell your story.
