ICE & DIAMONDS BALL FOR WALKING WITH THE WOUNDED

Battersea Power Station

On the 3rd March Timebased Events produced the Ice & Diamonds Send-Off Ball for Walking with the Wounded. Battersea Power Station's Boiler House was transformed into a winter wonderland for the evening and Zara Phillips, David Bailey, Rob Brydon and Yasmin Le Bon graced the white carpet.

On the 27th March, a team of four wounded soldiers shall begin a grueling expedition to reach the North Pole. Once they reach the North Pole these soldiers shall become the first amputees to accomplish this incredible feat, raising funds for injured ex-service people.

HRH Prince Harry is a proud Patron of the charity and plans to join the team during the final leg of their journey. Last night the soldiers were joined by over 500 high profile supporters and sponsors for a celebratory send-off party and an extravagant fundraising auction.

“Tip-top night Timebased. Getting great feedback from guests - coming in left, right and centre - and all commenting on a fab time and how well done it was… thanks to you!”

Artemis Investment Management

Timebased worked with the Walking with the Wounded charity, and sponsors Artemis Investment Management, Edmiston and GQ to ensure the occasion was as notable as the people and the cause it was supporting. Battersea Power Station's Boiler House became a chic ice cave, adorned with Herbert Ponting's photographic documentation of previous polar adventures. Two majestic ice bars were installed and the ball was illuminated by sparkling glass chandeliers and electric blue projections.

Zara Phillips joined the team, along with David Bailey, Rob Brydon, Yasmin Le Bon and Frank Gardner for a polar dinner and charity auction, followed by secret live performances from the legendary Duran Duran and X Factor star Olly Murs. Auction donations included an opportunity to meet the team at the North Pole, tickets for X Factor 2011, a rare 100-year-old bottle of Whyte & Mackay whiskey, a limited edition David Bailey signed print and a personalised autographed David Beckham shirt.

The evening raised over £220,000 for the brave servicemen and women who fight for our country. If you would like to donate or show your support for this cause please visit the charity’s website here.
